Edit additional institution profile content blocks

December 2023 additional, optional content blocks were added to the university profiles. These include:

  1. Banner carousel
  2. Image carousel
  3. Featured offerings

To access your institution profile, go to Manage / Catalogues and click your university name from the list of options.

While on the 'Catalogue content' tab click 'edit' in the the top right of the screen to open the editing screen.

From here you can edit content and images in all existing components.

To add these components, click the 'edit' button in the top right of your institution profile on the 'Catalogue' content tab, scroll to the button, and click 'Add block'.

You can select the desired component from the options.

The new content block will appear at the bottom of all the page blocks by default. If you change your mind and would like to delete a block press the trash can icon in the top right of the component.

How to edit the new components:

  1. Hero banner carousel

The 'hero banner carousel' can either be used to replace the current page banner and title, or as a standalone component further down the page to feature specific messaging and images. The banner automatically shifts to the next image after approximately 5 seconds. There is no limit to the number of images, but we recommend up to 3.

Select how the carousel will be used by choosing either 'page banner' or content. if you select 'page banner', this will automatically over-write the original catalogue title shown at the top of the page. (Please don't delete the original catalogue title, this is used for page metadata and the page name in the admin area).

If you choose 'content', the carousel will appear below the heading on the page. To change the order of content blocks, click and drag the component using the square icon in the top right of the content block.

There are a number of options for the different versions of the page banner. Choose an image directly from the web or upload from your local files. You can choose the image position (left, right or full width), width and the background colour for the text section, within the constraints of the MicroCreds branding. You can also optionally add a button to the carousel should you wish to link to specific course pages within microcreds.ie.

The Title, sub-heading and button will appear as shown below, depending on the background colour chosen for the text:

Once you're happy with the edits made to your profile, scroll up to the top of the screen and press 'save'. You can then view the live page by clicking on Actions / View live page.

  1. Image carousel

For the image carousel, you can optionally add a title and description, or leave this blank to show only the images. Click 'choose an image' to add an image from your gallery, a direct link to an online image, or upload from your computer. You can optionally add a caption. To add further images press 'Add item' underneath the last image.

Click and drag the component to where you would like it to be placed on the page using the square icon in the top right corner of the content block. It's possible to change the order of all components above the main catalogue.

Once you're happy with the edits made to your profile, scroll up to the top of the screen and press 'save'. You can then view the live page by clicking on Actions / View live page.

  1. Featured offerings

There is a limited amount of customisation available in the 'featured offerings' component, where you can display a carousel of course tiles. In the content block, ensure your university's 'featured' catalogue is selected. You can then choose the number of tiles displayed: 2,3 or 4.

To modify the featured courses, you need to go to the 'Featured' catalogue. To do this go to Manage /Catalogues from the main left hand menu. Your featured catalogue should appear in the list of catalogues.

Click on the featured catalogue title and then 'Catalogue settings'.

Once there, click 'edit' in the top right hand corner.

Click on the drop down under 'Assign offerings' to select specific microcredentials to feature. Once selected, press 'Assign offerings' to confirm your selection.

You can ignore the other catalogue settings further down the page.

Press save in the top right corner of the screen to confirm your changes.
